Cryptotaenia Japonica atropurpurea. Japanese purple leafed parsley. This herbaceous plant emerges with dark purple blushed red trifoliate leaves in spring quickly producing a small mound. It slowly elongated developing leafy stems to carry tiny clusters of pink to white flowers. As the foliage ages it will turn more green. This plant self seeds well so if you do not want it all through your garden removed finished flowers before developing seeds. Every part of the plant is edible a has a pleasant parsley like flavour that can be used in soups or salads or as a garnish. Seeds are also a nice addition to salt to create a mild flavour. Full sun to part shade. 60-80cm by 50cm.
