GALANTHUS

Galanthus also known as snowdrops are the scouts of the warmer weather coming and the welcome sign of new life breaking through the cold ground. These dainty little bells emerge mid winter from large green leaf clumps usually with 6 petals 3 inner 3 outer and white with various green markings, but there are always exceptions to the rule and we do stock a number of double varieties that do break the rule quite spectacularly.

Galanthus  are best suited to cool-temperate climates and thrive in woodland or rockery conditions. They prefer a position in dappled shade with moist humus-rich soil. Their dainty appearance belies their hardiness. While in leaf keep moist, while dormant keep dry to stop rotting. They usually multiply quickly enough left to their own devises for couple of years.
